Friends of the Ebbw Vale Works Museum.

Aims of the Museum.

The Ebbw Vale Works Archival Trust became by Deed of Trust signed by representatives of Corus and the First Trustees on 11th November 2004 the owners of the collection gathered for some years before the final closure of the works was announced in 2002 by Barrie Caswell, John Gaydon and Mel Warrender with the permission of the then Works Manager Mr Andy Dunbar.

The Trust Deed's main objectives are to advance the education of the public by the establishment of a museum to preserve and put on public display the Ebbw Vale Works Archival Trusts Collection.

Small independent museums, such as the Ebbw Vale Works Museum, are totally reliant on funding raised through varies grants, sponsorships, donations and sales of items published by the museum.

We have been very fortunate that since the museum was formed and became a Charitable Trust, we have been supported by Tata Steel, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, Welsh Assembly - CyMAL - Federation of Museums and Art Galleries Wales, Association of Independent Museums and by donations given by visitors when visiting the museum.

Eighteen months ago it was decided that we have to find other ways to raise money to assist in the running/maintaining, and thereby ensuring the long term future of the museum, for the benefit of the local community and communities further afield.

It was decided that one way of ensuring the means of raising monetary support for the museum was by creating a scheme to be called "Friends of the Ebbw Vale Works Museum" and there would be a Annual Subscription of £5.00 for those wishing to join.

By becoming a member of the scheme you will receive two "Friends Of the Museum" booklets yearly, which will keep you up to date with what is happening within the museum as well as a written article on a historical subject about the works.
